We have moved to 31 Welsford Street, Shepparton
It is with great excitement that GV Hospice Care Service has moved from 102 Balaclava Road to a temporary home at 31 Welsford Street, Shepparton.
The relocation is to enable the construction of a “fit for purpose” Community Palliative Care Hub. The ‘Hub’ will ensure the provision of the needed specialist palliative care services to the community of Greater Shepparton, well into the future.
Hospice Committee of Management President Jeanette Powell said,
“Our current building has served us and the community well over many years, unfortunately its current layout no longer meets current health care standards and does not address the functional and operational needs of a specialist palliative care service”. The decision to establish the much needed Community Palliative Care Hub has taken over 18 months of planning.
Over the next 14 months the redevelopment will be built on the existing site and the adjacent site purchased for this development with the existing buildings be demolished.
A redevelopment will ensure the necessary specialist professionals and resources are available every day of the week, free of charge. A Community Palliative Care Hub will provide a warm and welcoming space for our community and other liked minded services. The staff and the extended team of volunteers have been operating in very confined conditions for several years, while still meeting the increasing number of families seeking support.
The Hub will enable further programs to be established, with flexible spaces for families and carers to meet, supporting the needs of our diverse community. The redevelopment will house all of GV Hospice programs, inclusive of the much loaned equipment.
A new home for GV Hospice staff, volunteers, patients, carers and their families. The Hub will provide the information and resources needed to support people in making decisions that best suit their needs on living, dying and grieving well.
