GV Hospice “Christmas Trees of Remembrance” once again provide a ‘compassionate public space’ for sharing memories of loved ones in a collective way. Community members are are invited to place a notecard on the tree, acknowledging that special person who has died.

One of the more difficult impacts of COVID restrictions for some has been the  inability to be with family and friends during difficult times. Attendance numbers at funerals were limited, which made it very challenging to acknowledge and celebrate a person’s life, collectively, as we normally would.

The Christmas Trees of Remembrance provides an opportunity to write messages – to say goodbye, to write how much the person is missed, and to say how much they are loved.

As one participant said, “seeing many cards on the tree, along side mine, helps me remember I’m not alone, not the only one missing someone”.

Thank you to the GV Regional Libraries for the ongoing support of the Christmas Trees of Remembrance. You can find the Christmas Trees of Remembrance at the Shepparton, Mooroopna and Tatura libraries.
